The following is a summary of Ohio's regulations as they pertain to the inflatable industry along with links to the actual regulations. There may be city or county regulations as well, check with your local government entity. State contact information is listed at the bottom of the page.

§ 1711.53. operating permit

No person shall operate an amusement ride within the state without a permit

Prior to issuing any permit the state will inspect each amusement ride. The owner will have the amusement ride ready for inspection not later than two hours after the time that it is requested for the inspection.

the state will charge the following amusement ride fees:
Permit $ 50
Annual inspection and reinspection per ride:
Kiddie rides $100
Other rides $160
Midseason operational inspection per ride $ 25
Expedited inspection per ride $100
Failure to cancel scheduled inspection per ride $100
Failure to have amusement ride ready for inspection per ride $100

the state may inspect the ride during each scheduled event on a list provided by the owner

the state may conduct a midseason operational inspection of every amusement ride it conducts an annual inspection on.

§ 1711.54. Certificate of insurance required for issuance of permit.

owner must have liability insurance of not less than five hundred thousand dollars because of bodily injury to or death of one person and not less than one million dollars because of bodily injury to or death of two or more persons in each occurrence. provided by an authorized insurance carrier

file a certificate of insurance with the department of agriculture

§ 1711.55. Duties of ride owner; operators; accident reports; inspections; temporary cessation orders.

The owner of an amusement ride shall maintain a current maintenance, repair, and inspection record for each amusement ride

The owner of an amusement ride shall maintain records of all serious injuries involving riders

The owner of a temporary amusement ride shall provide the department with a tentative schedule of events

§ 1711.551. Duty of rider to heed warnings and directions and avoid unsafe behavior.

The owner of the amusement ride display the warnings and directions in a public and conspicuous place on or near the ride.
